The SESAMES Awards reward the most innovative professionals in the fields of smart cards, digital security, identification, secure transactions and contactless technologies.
The competition, open to all innovative projects in the relevant sectors and even to CARTES non-exhibitors, is totally free of charge. Competing companies range from start-ups to SME’s to the largest multi-nationals.

 
The SESAMES represent an unrivalled seal of approval in innovation and are regarded as global standards for card manufacturers and related industries. The SESAMES Awards reward the best projects in 10 categories (HARDWARE - SOFTWARE - IDENTIFICATION / ID CARDS / HEALTH - IT SECURITY - TRANSPORTATION - BANKING/RETAIL/LOYALTY - MOBILITY- TRUSTED INTERNET / AUTHENTICATION - E-TRANSACTIONS - MANUFACTURING & TESTS)

 
The projects submitted will be presented to jury members, international experts recognized in their field. The judges will choose the finalists and the winners of the SESAMES Awards, in total impartiality and confidentiality of entries, thus highlighting the most dynamic and most ingenious companies.

 
The Awards will be presented during a ceremony, on the eve of the opening of the exhibition.

What are the benefits?

How does the competition take place?

The SESAMES Awards’ steps are:

     
Step 1 February Deposit of the rules & regulations at bailiff and establishment of a report
Step 2 April – 30 June 2012 Deposit of submissions (characteristics and innovative features of the product / applications) on a secure Internet platform
Step 3 July2012 Compilation of submissions (eligibility, confidentiality, novelty) by the organizer together with experts.
Step 4 End of July 2012 Official announcement of the candidate companies
Step 5 August – Sept. 2012

Examination of submissions by the members of the jury. 3 to 5 members of the jury by category note the submissions according to 3 criteria:

  • Innovative nature of the submission submitted (10 points max.)
  • Market opportunity (8 points max.)
  • Quality of argument (2 points max.)
Step 6 October 2012 Official announcement of finalists.
The finalists are submissions having obtained the best 3 grades out of 20 by the members of the jury in each category
Step 7 5 November 2012 SESAMES Awards Ceremony disclosing the winners. The winners correspond to submissions having obtained the best note by all the members of the jury of each category

 

How to participate?

Deposit of submissions on-line

The deposit of submissions is exclusively made on the SESAMES 2012 secure* Internet platform.
The themes of the questions in the form to be completed are the following:

  • Selection of the Competition Category
  • Product/application Name
  • Product/application Information
  • Product/application Description
  • Innovation Description
  • Market Opportunity

Eligibility

  • Competitors may submit one or more submissions. There are no restrictions on the number of submissions per competitor. However, any company that submits more than one submission must complete one application form for each entry.
  • The submission cannot be submitted in both Hardware and Software categories at the same time
  • The same submission can be submitted in three different categories at a maximum
  • A submission submitted initially as the best hardware or the best software can be entered a second time the following year as an application, but may not be entered more than twice.

 

Equity

  • The projects submitted will be presented to jury members anonymously. So candidates must not, in any case, mention the name of their company or product. They may use generic names such as ‘our company’, ‘the product’ or ‘the application’.
