Fighting Fraud; a multi-channel perspective Technology and business processes linked to fighting multi-channel card fraud and sustaining compliance, are rapidly evolving and keeping up can be a challenge. Dealing with increasingly innovative attacks, techniques and smarter fraudsters results in a constant review of risk. Maintaining compliance with payment card industry initiatives (Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode, CV2, PCI:DSS) whilst preventing fraudulent attacks can be a costly and complex challenge. Countering threats and managing risk can be a difficult balancing act, it's imperative to keep one step ahead of fraudsters and competition, whilst ensuring your organisation remains compliant from a multi-channel perspective. Robin Adams, Director of Security Risk and Fraud Consulting

The Cost/Benefit Behind the Security of Moving from Paper to Digital Processes How much does it cost card issuers to manage their cardholder's PIN? What happens when a cardholder forgets his/her PIN? Is there a simple, secure means of offering PIN selection? How much has EMV rendered PIN management more complex? In this presentation, we will establish a cost/benefit model between the increased level of security of a robust PIN and the costs that are usually forgotten in maintaining the level of security. The presentation will also explore avenues for simplifying PIN management for cardholders and card issuers, their impact on risk management and security, and on cardholder relationship. Finally, the presentation will introduce an innovation that would greatly enhance the level of service offered by issuers, while providing a reduced risk and reduced costs to issuers. This innovation is green, helping banks offset carbon emissions significantly! A case study will be presented to illustrate the concept. Hermann Bauer, Director, Business Development, SafeNet Inc. Managing Secure Applications: current and future solutions Secure payment, communication and identification applications all require „secure elements“ to manage keys and keep sensitive applications secure. They can take the form of SIM cards, Credit Cards, or can be embedded in the CPU of a device. Whatever form, they need to be managed along their lifecycle: from initialisation and personalisation, to updating, secure applet downloading and potentially locking. This seminar provides you with an overview of trends and technical developments of both Secure Elements and the (Over The Air) Management thereof.
